Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced levels! 

Each participant will skate in 3 events. 

All participants will receive a medal. First, Second, and Third highest scores will receive a special medal.

LOOKING TO JOIN LEARN TO SKATE?

The Independence Skating Academy follows the Learn to Skate USA (LTS USA) curriculum, the leading learn to skate program in the United States endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, US Speedskating, and the Special Olympics. 

No equipment needed! Learn to Skate participants can enjoy FREE skate rental during every session!

Our mission is to provide a fun, safe, and educational environment for everyone learning to skate.  Our professional staff of coaches, each with their own unique skating background, have the special skills and training to keep skaters enthusiastic from their first steps on the ice until they have reached their skating goals.

 All participants in our Learn to Skate programs must purchase Learn to Skate USA Membership for Sports Accident Insurance, valid from July 1 – June 30 each year, prior to registering for classes. Membership is only $20.  Those enrolled in multiple programs only need to pay the annual fee one time each year.

Aspire Academy

The Aspire program is for skaters who have passed Basic 6. It is a program designed to develop well balanced figure skaters. Whether the goal is competition, synchro, testing or dance, Aspire can help get you there!

Aspire Class Levels:

    Bronze level is for Skaters in PreFS - FS2

    Silver level is for skaters in FS3 - FS4

    Gold is for skaters in FS 5 - FS6

Aspire Class structure:

11:30a - 12:00p - Off ice class, we will rotate through learning warm-ups, conditioning, dance, flexibility and off-ice jumps

12:15p - 1:15p - On ice class focused on skating skills, jumps and spins and one specialty focus per session.

Basic Classes Include:

  • Thirty minute group lesson  
  • Two discounted private booster lessons 
  • Unlimited public skate passes with a current LTS USA membership and while enrolled into Learn to Skate Classes.
  • Free skate rental on day of class
  • An official U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills membership card
  • A record book with stickers to track your progress through the lessons. (You will get in the mail with your insurance card) 
  • US Figure Skating Basic Skills membership and year patches
  • A patch for the highest level completed during the session
  • General information about ice skating
  • Basic Skills Edition of SKATING magazine every month
  • Opportunity to compete and be in  group and solo ice shows and competitions 
  • Seasonal Camps 
  • Introduction to private lessons

LEARN TO SKATE CLASS DETAILS

Basic Classes are 30 minutes long and cost $70 for a 5 week session and includes free skate rental and 12 public skate passes for practice with a current LTS USA membership.  Our Advanced Classes are 60 minutes long and cost $100 for a 5 week session and include 12 public passes for practice ice with a current LTS USA membership.

Learn to Skate is for all ages – from tots to adults! Helmets are recommended for the beginning levels.  Remember to dress warmly with mittens, pants and layered garments.

PATRONS OF THIS FACILITY ARE REQUIRED TO REFRAIN FROM THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIORS:
  • Behavior that is disruptive, aggressive or illegal in nature.
  • Intoxication or other signs of alcohol or substance abuse or impairment.
  • Foul language or obscene gestures.
  • Any verbal abuse of other patrons, employees, officials and players.
  • Banging on the glass or other excessive or boisterous behaviors or celebrations.
Management reserves the right to have any offenders of the above written policy removed from the facility.
